SCHUKO® IP68. Built for extreme conditions.
For applications with high mechanical stress or in permanently wet environments, SCHUKO® plugs and connectors with IP68 protection are available. They are equipped with a bayonet ring and a protective cap and remain waterproof when plugged in, even when submerged. The textured grip surfaces and the rubberised, likewise textured cable gland ensure excellent handling. Even in damp or wet conditions, the plugs and connectors can be gripped securely.

Thanks to the innovative, universal silicone seal, the time‑consuming adjustment or replacement of different sealing elements is completely eliminated. A single sealing element reliably covers all cable diameters from 6.4 to 16.5 mm — flexible, clean, and efficient.

Pull out the insert, feed the cable through, connect the conductors, fix the insert at two points, tighten the cable gland — done. It hardly gets any easier or faster.
More convenience through well‑designed details
Captive screws ensure that both the enclosure screws and the contact screws stay securely in place and cannot accidentally fall out. No special tools are required either — a standard PZ2 screwdriver is all you need.
For additional safety and error‑free installation, all relevant information is displayed directly on the insert: The stripping length for the outer sheath is clearly marked, and there is even an integrated template for the conductor stripping length. This makes it easy and precise to determine the correct lengths — without any additional measuring tools.

Robust enclosures with IP54 protection
Our plugs and connectors with IP54 protection are made from high‑performance plastic, making them highly resistant to UV radiation, most oils, greases, solvents and cleaning agents, hydrocarbons, as well as organic and inorganic bases.
The robust enclosures can also withstand loads of up to one ton. The self‑closing lid on the connectors ensures IP54 protection, and during operation the devices withstand temperatures between –30 °C and +40 °C. The screwed‑in seal on the cable gland and the generous wiring space make installation particularly easy and convenient.

All SCHUKO® plugs with IP54 protection and a double earthing system are certified by both VDE and CEBEC. The SCHUKO® IP54 connectors are VDE‑certified, while the French‑Belgian connectors hold a CEBEC certification.

Amendment of the DIN VDE 0620 standard.
For use in portable equipment, the current requirements specify that panel mounted receptacles must be used which meet protection class IPX4 with the hinged lid closed and with a plugged‑in, compatible plug — in any operating position. Before the amendment to the standard in February 2010, protection class IPX4 was considered fulfilled if the requirements were met only in a vertical installation position. For receptacles intended for fixed installations, this still applies.
